LG jumps into laptop market with Gram.
For a long time, LG has concentrated on the smart phone and television markets. Now, they are diving into the abyss of the laptop market with the release of their laptop: Gram.
“We recognize this is an extremely competitive category, and are confident consumers will respond well to this product that combines powerful performance with lightweight design,” said David VanderWaal, vice president of LG marketing, in a statement.
Gram is set to release in both 13″ and 14″ screen size models and come preinstalled with Windows 10. LG decided on the name based on how the laptop weighs in at 2.16 pounds. And, yes, that is lighter than the Apple MacBook Air at 2.91 pounds.
I know most of you are thinking they skimped on performance potential to come in at 2.16 pounds. However, the 13″ models boast an Intel Core i5, 128GB SSD and 8GB RAM. The 14″ models come with your choice of either the Intel Core i5 or i7 processors with 128GB or 256GB SSD with 8GB RAM. The Gram supports Bluetooth and WiFi, has built in USB 3.0, HDMI and Micro USB ports. Both screen sizes are full HD with 1920×1080 resolution. With all this power, one would expect the battery life to be less than stellar. Wrong. The Gram has a 7.5 hour battery life.
Interested in purchasing one? The Gram is on sale now at Microsoft stores starting at $899 and topping out at $1399 for the Gold edition.
