Malware is defined as software that is intended to damage or disable computers and computer systems, but it can also affect mobile devices and computer networks as well. Malware can give hackers a path into your system, which will keep going deeper into the system until it eventually infects an entire network. Not all anti-virus solutions can detect these threats and we usually get infected by either opening an unknown file, whether it’s through an email or a link on a website, or by another computer on the same network. Menlo Security, a security firm based out of California, has devised a new plan to scan every piece of data that you need to get to for threats and create a “mirror” image which you will see.
This is a very unique concept and one that has received a $25M Series B funding from several partners. Menlo Security Co-Founder and CEO, Amir Ben-Efraim, says, “The only safe play is to isolate all of it and not allow it to get to the endpoint. It is time for the security industry to start thinking of new ideas because the current ideas aren’t working.” This new solution operates in the Cloud so it does not require the use of software or hardware to be installed at the endpoint (your computer, device, etc).
