The new WiFi standard 802.11ac is hitting big this year. Many manufacturers are adopting the new standard for their devices offering a much better Internet experience. Trendnet showed one of its newest devices at CES this year the promises 802.11ac speeds via a USB port.
This new WiFi adapter simply plugs into a USB 3.0 port and gives its users access to much higher speeds. The adapter is capped at speeds up to 867 Mbps when used in combination with a 802.11ac capable router.
While these new speeds may not make everyone run to the store for one of these new USB WiFi devices, it certainly is tempting if you have a router that also supports the new standard and computers that do not currently.
