Shortly before Google won its antitrust lawsuit earlier this year Microsoft claimed that its Windows phone devices have been, and continue to be blocked from Google’s popular Maps application.
While Google denies that the purposely blocked IE on Windows phone from being blocked from Google’s Maps, they did not deny that the problem exists. Microsoft first reported this problem early on in 2011 and Google is just no working to correct the problem.
While Google is not the first search provider or IT related company to block another companies products for being able to use its technology they certainly did it rather blatantly. Like I said earlier Google is just now in 2013 trying to resolve the problem which means that users of Windows phones have been without Google Maps this entire time, furthermore, it gave a good reason not to buy a Windows Phone if the purchaser intended on possibly using it for navigation purposes among other things.
