Although the world famous Flappy Bird was pulled from the App Store, the developer Dong Nguyen is still making $50,000 a day.
Flappy Bird was originally “designed to play in a few minutes when you are relaxed,” but ironically, it’s been the cause of excessive amounts of stress and mountains of broken devices. After observing all the problems and negativity that the game had caused, Mr. Nguyen found that it became an addictive problem and concluded that it had to be stopped. The only thing he could do to remedy this debacle was to take it down. A late morning tweet by Mr. Nguyen confirmed his final decision.
Despite the absence of the game on the App Store, Dong Nguyen continues to receive payments by the truckload. The reason is all 50 million plus people who have downloaded it are constantly being pestered by advertisements, which because of, Mr. Nguyen receives $50,000 per day. Seeing as when taken down from the App Store the amount of downloads skyrocketed, some say it was a stroke of pure marketing genius, but Mr. Nguyen says deleting it was purely for personal reasons. Until he decides to turn off all the ads, he will continue to rake in as much money as he can.
